Secondary School students support Hospice for their Charity of the Year

Students at Soham Village College have raised over £3,500 throughout their year-long partnership with Arthur Rank Hospice Charity, helping to make a real difference for people living with an advanced serious illness or other life-limiting condition and those who need end of life car across Cambridgeshire.
Throughout the academic year, students threw themselves into a packed calendar of fundraising activities. From energetic Dance-athons and a School Talent Show to a colourful Pride World Cup football tournament, there was something for everyone to get involved in. Alongside their own creative events, students also took part in some of Arthur Rank Hospice Charity’s popular fundraising initiatives, including the festive Rudolph Run and selling the charity’s much-loved knitted Spring Chicks on site.

Lucy Alda, Student Services Manager, commented:
“At Soham Village College we believe that fundraising empowers students to make a difference, build teamwork and learn real-world skills, all while supporting causes they care about. The enthusiasm and creativity shown by our students has been brilliant to see, and we’re incredibly proud of what they’ve achieved.”
The school’s connection with the Charity began in 2024 through the Community Act Team (CATS). Inspired by the work of the Hospice and the experiences shared by the Charity’s Team, Mrs Bullock and the school leadership team chose to make Arthur Rank Hospice Charity their official Charity of the Year.
Sarah Clayton, Community Fundraiser at the Charity shared:
“It’s been a pleasure to work with Soham Village College this year. The students’ energy and positivity have shone through every event, and the funds they’ve raised will help ensure more people in Cambridgeshire get the expert care and support they need at the end of life. They should all feel really proud.”
