Jack Melville was cared for by the Arthur Rank Hospice Charity Community Team then later on at the Inpatient Unit in Cambridge.
Before then he was a keen artist who spent the last few years of his life in Ibiza.
Kevin, a close friend of Jack’s commented:
“Jack’s end-of-life care at Arthur Rank Hospice was fantastic and I would like to thank you for this.”
This motivated Kevin to think of a way to show case Jack’s talented art work.
Jack spent a lot of his time drawing and painting, mainly portraits, which included Twiggy, Tommy Cooper, Audrey Hepburn, David Bowie and Prince, to name a few.
He created very talented black and white pencil and pen drawings and these were part of an exhibition, entitled ‘Do what you love’, in Bahrain in 2016.
Kevin chose a few of Jack’s favourite images and arranged a number of his icons to be printed onto a t-shirt in Jack’s memory.
Kevin was delighted that Jack was able to see the t-shirts before he died.
Once friends and family saw the artistic creation, Kevin received multiple requests for orders, including internationally, and sold them to order, with the Melville’s family blessing. These raised a fantastic £522.00 for Arthur Rank Hospice Charity.
Friends, Kevin, Mel and Barry who all spent time in Ibiza with Jack, came to the Hospice with Jack’s daughters, Laura and Ellie and Granddaughter, Olivia to present the cheque to Community Nurse, Katie Joy, who cared for Jack.
Sarah Clayton, Community Fundraiser commented;
“It gives a great sense of pride when the care provided from our Clinical Team, motivates families and friends to fundraise for Arthur Rank Hospice Charity in memory of a loved one. We would like to say a big thank you to Kevin and Jack’s family and friends. The t-shirts are a fitting tribute to a very talented artist”
