Join us in May 2026 for an extraordinary adventure in the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco!
We’re seeking daring adventurers to conquer the highest peak in North Africa: Mount Toubkal, standing tall at 4,167 meters.
This exhilarating five-day journey includes three days of trekking. They’ll be steep, rocky paths to contend with, and it’s all about endurance fitness, rather than speed. But the challenge will be worth it – the breathtaking views from the summit, stretching across to the Sahara Desert, and the immense sense of accomplishment will make every step worthwhile.
Your sponsorship raised on this incredible challenge – three tough days of trekking around eight hours a day and camping whilst on the mountain – will enable the Charity to continue to support people in Cambridgeshire living with an advanced serious illness or other life-limiting condition and those who need end of life care.
All places on this challenge are exclusively for #TeamArthur trekkers and everyone is welcome, individuals as well as friends, family or corporate groups. This is a very special journey, from fundraising to trekking, and by the end you’ll have some fantastic new friends.
We have partnered with experienced operator, Discover Adventure to guide you through your adventure of a lifetime!
To ensure you are fit and ready for the challenge, the Challenges Team at Arthur Rank Hospice Charity will help you with your training plan. There will be an opportunity to get together with your #TeamArthur Challengers beforehand.
Registration Fee is £199 and then you can choose from the following fundraising options:
Self Funder: Pay £900 (to cover the cost of the trip) and commit to fundraise an additional £900 and above
Fundraising Option: Commit to fundraise £1,800 or more. (£900 of this will cover the remaining cost of the trip) .
We can support you with your fundraising, with setting up an online page and a helpful Fundraising Guide full of ideas to get you started. Your fundraising really makes a difference, we care for around 3,600 patients each year at our Hospice in Cambridgeshire, the Alan Hudson Day Treatment Centre in Wisbech and in patients’ own homes via the Arthur Rank Community Team. Our outstanding care is provided free of charge to patients and their families. People like you, taking up challenges like this, enable us to continue to offer these services.

The Mount Toubkal Trek for Arthur Rank Hospice Charity is 16 – 20 May 2026.
This challenge is not about the distance trekked, but about the height reached and the challenges of the terrain. You can expect to be trekking for around eight hours a day.
You will be trekking on dry, rocky tracks, mainly uphill or downhill. There are some shale and scree sections which are loose underfoot, some large boulders, and there may be some leftover snow.
If you are unsteady on your feet or suffer knee problems you will find trekking poles invaluable, but do make sure you use these in your training. It will get much cooler the higher you trek, and can be very cold at the summit.
The highest point we trek to is 4167m. Trekking at altitude can make even the simplest tasks feel like hard work, and along with feeling cold and fatigued, there will be tough times for everyone. The trip is designed so that there is time to acclimatise to the altitude, but you may still feel effects such as headaches and shortness of breath when on the move.
We’ll supply you with a full kit list, but an essential items include a worn in supportive pair of walking boots, suitable clothing for trekking in and a sleeping bag.
We’re aiming for a group of 20 trekkers. This is a bespoke event for Arthur Rank Hospice, so all trekkers will be raising funds for the hospice. #TeamArthur!
Absolutely! Most people will be coming along on their own so do not worry. We’ll organise a pre-event get together so you can meet your other trekkers, set up a Whatsapp group so you can chat ahead of the trek. After taking on this challenge of lifetime together, you’ll find you have a special bond with your fellow trekkers. You’ll be buddied up with another trekker to room share.
We also welcome friends, family members and colleagues to join together as well.
Yes all trekkers need to be over 18.
You’ll be asked to complete a medical form ahead of the trek. If you have any concerns about your fitness to take part, we suggest talking to your own Doctor and showing them a copy of the itinerary.
It is amazing what the local crew produce in this environment! The food is freshly-cooked and plentiful so it is important that you make sure you are eating well for the long days of trekking. It’s typical to lose your appetite at altitude, so you may have to make yourself eat at times. The meals are usually high in carbohydrate content, and you will eat foods like porridge, bread, stews, soups, potato, meat dishes, pastas, fruit and vegetables. If you have any dietary requirements please let us know.
International flights, all accommodation (twin share), meals as detailed in the itinerary, celebration meal, Discover Adventure leader and Doctor, local leaders, team & transportation, Fuel supplement and airline taxes, 24-hour emergency UK back-up. The trip is 100% financially bonded and 100% carbon offset.
Not included in the costs are: meals as detailed in itinerary, Alcoholic drinks, personal travel insurance and tips for the local crew.
It’s important to set out a plan and break this figure down into chunks. An online fundraising is a great place to start, and we can give you everything you need as well as some helpful tips to make the most of this.
On top of that you’ll need to be a bit creative – who do you know, what do you enjoy, who can help you?
A great idea is to aim for an event to really make a lot in one night. Things like a quiz night, bingo, music night with a raffle have been very successful for people in the past.
Does your employer offered matched funding?
Can you do something like a big car wash in your area, rope in friends and family so you can do lots of cars in day.
We’re here to help and support you, and can help you make a plan.
Your support helps to continue supporting people in Cambridgeshire living with an advanced serious illness or other life-limiting condition and those who need end of life care, thank you.
