Health Care Assistant supports the Inpatient Unit to go plastic bag free

An inspiring Health Care Assistant who works at the Hospice in Cambridge has initiated an eco friendly venture for patients and their families.
Following her annual appraisal, Health Care Assistant, Jenny Start, was inspired to find a green way to help the Inpatient Unit to go plastic bag free.
Jenny noticed that when patient’s property needed to be shared with friends or family, it was previously put into a plastic bag. She decided to speak to a couple of talented and generous volunteers and asked them if they would like to make some cloth bags for the Charity – and they jumped at the opportunity. They now regularly supply the Inpatient with beautiful handmade cloth bags for patients and their loved ones.
The Charity takes it’s environmental responsibility very seriously and is developing a net zero carbon approach, as set out in it’s five year strategy plan. Ongoing initiatives and changes are always being implemented at the Charity to support people, places and the planet.
