Daughter runs Equestrian Pole Clinic in memory of her Mum

In 2026, Laura Spencer-Jones ran a fundraising event in memory of her Mum. Nancy Spencer-Jones, aged 55, was supported by Arthur Rank Hospice Charity before she died in April 2025.

On Sunday 12 July, assisted by her sister Lucy and friend Sandi, she ran Equestrian Pole Work Clinic Camps for people to enjoy with their horses. Laura explained her reasons for organising the event:

“My Mum was very special to me and so many other people too – especially in the equestrian community. She was an outgoing person with a love of horses and the outdoors. To honour her, I ran one of her popular Pole Work Clinics, as this was what her friends, family and clients deeply enjoyed.”

Laura shared her reasons for choosing to fundraise for the Charity:

“Arthur Rank Hospice cared so beautifully for my Mum at the end of her life. I didn’t know much about hospices before my mum got terminally ill but from the care we, as a family, experienced it would be a place I would recommend for families going through a loss of a loved one.

The care and support we got made it a lot more comfortable for my mum and for us to get to spend time with her as a family.”

Laura continued:

“Lisa Thompson, Community Fundraiser at Arthur Rank Hospice Charity was my Charity fundraising support for the event and supplied me with collection tins and supported me to set up a fundraising page.”

Lisa commented:

“We are very grateful to Laura for choosing to support people in Cambridgeshire living with an advancing serious illness and those who need end of life care. She ran an amazing event – one I am sure her Mum would be proud of. Our patients and loved ones are very grateful.”

Laura concluded:

“It was a very special day and we raised over £1,500 for the Charity – a tradition I’m hoping to now keep up.”
