Help Us Be There

With your support you can enable us to help care for more people, and their families, day and night across the County.

Hospice at Home provides vital end of life care, day and night, to patients in their own homes.

The support of our team means that patients are able to spend their last days in the comfort of their home, knowing that everything possible will be done to help them die peacefully and with dignity.

Why we need your support

It costs £472 to fund one night of Hospice at Home care for each patient. With the generous help of our supporters we set out to fund 200 additional episodes of this vital specialist care, so we could be there for more families and patients who need us in Cambridgeshire.

In 2019 we set up the Help Us Be There Appeal as due to limited funding, each night the team was unable to provide care to one in three people referred to them, whose choice it is to remain at home. Difficult decisions had to be made every day, as to which patients and families needed our support more, that day or night.

Expansion

In October 2020 we were delighted to confirm that we had secured funding from the Clinical Commissioning Group for Cambridge and Peterborough (CCG) which would allow us to fund both day and night Hospice at Home. This significant development is a wonderful illustration of the importance of what was historically a purely night-time service.

We are delighted that by raising awareness of this unmet need, we can now reach more people, day and night across the County.

We recognise that whilst funding has been received, we still need your support.  We will require additional funding to supplement this exciting development so please do continue to give what you can.

For those who have already given to the appeal we’d like to say a huge thank you and assure you your funds will still be needed for our night-time service, whilst anyone who wishes to support this service moving forward will be able to support the day and night service.

Every staff member gave time, compassion and care and I was overwhelmed by the care you gave to my wife as well as me. I wasn't sure how I would manage caring for her in her last days but I was so proud that I was able to fulfil this wish for her, and I felt supported and cared for too
