HSBC Team cycles 125 miles in support of Hospice Care

At the beginning of July 2026, four HSBC(opens in new tab) employees took on an impressive cycling challenge to raise funds for Arthur Rank Hospice Charity.

Toby, Paul, Adam and Dan set out on their bikes for their aptly named ‘Tour de East Anglia’, covering an incredible 125-mile route across the region in a single day. The event has so far raised a fantastic £955 and they hope that this can be doubled through their work match funding scheme.

 

Already keen cyclists, the group completed some long training rides in preparation. Setting off from Colchester, the team embarked on the first leg of their journey before heading northwest towards HSBC’s main office in Cambridge. Continuing eastwards, they cycled on to the HSBC branch in Norwich, where they completed the demanding route. Adam shared:

“It was challenging at the end, the last 15 miles were really tough and we had to support each other to make sure we got round.”

The team fully embraced the challenge. Reflecting on the experience, Dan said:

“It was a fantastic day with plenty of sunshine, some great company and a few tired legs by the end. The beer on the train home was certainly well deserved!”

This is just one example of the strong support HSBC colleagues have shown for Arthur Rank Hospice Charity throughout the year. Adam explained why they chose to fundraise:

“Our main office is in Cambridge and we’ve been involved with the Arthur Rank Hospice Christmas Tree Recycling scheme(opens in new tab) for several years. We know what important work the Charity does.”

Their commitment has helped raise both awareness and essential funds for the Charity’s work across Cambridgeshire. Liz, Corporate Partnerships Officer at Arthur Rank Hospice Charity, praised the team’s efforts:

“We are so grateful to the HSBC team for completing this cycling challenge, especially in such hot weather! An amazing total was raised and this is on top of the wider fundraising which HSBC Bank have been taking part in this year including their participation in the Cambridge to Ely Trek and the Star Shine Night Walk, as well as nominating the Charity as a beneficiary at the SME Cambridgeshire Business Awards(opens in new tab).

This will make a big difference to our patients and their loved ones both at the Hospice, at the Alan Hudson Centre and in patients own homes via the Hospice at Home Teams.”

This challenge highlights the valuable partnership between HSBC and Arthur Rank Hospice Charity, demonstrating how businesses can make a meaningful difference to their community. Every pound raised helps the Charity continue to provide specialist care and support to patients living with advancing serious illness or those who need end-of-life care, as well as their families.
