Alan Hudson Day Treatment Centre Volunteer

Anna Elliot

I volunteer for Living Well at the Alan Hudson Day Centre in Wisbech on Mondays and sometimes Fridays. I have been volunteering for eleven years and love helping out.

I also help our fundraiser, Toni Bird, whenever she needs support with events.

I love chatting to the patients, making teas and coffees and helping them with craft activities. I like to get in early and clean and tidy the room ready for the patient’s arrival to save the nurses from having to do this.

I was overwhelmed to be voted the Fenland Citizen of the Year in October 2022 for my contributions to the Centre, which was especially poignant as I had not long lost my Mum. As well as the award I also received a letter from Stephen Barclay, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, thanking me for my contribution.

In my spare time I enjoy making crafts and sell items made at fairs donating the proceeds from this to Arthur Rank Hospice Charity. I also like to help others in my community when I can.
