Sam, Practice Educator on the Inpatient Unit

I’m usually around the Inpatient Unit. My role allows me time to work on the ward, but also as an extra person so I can support the nursing team and keep developing the skills of the team as a whole. I also help out in the Education department, delivering teaching sessions as needed. This is usually here at our Education Centre, but sometimes I go to nursing homes or community hospitals to deliver teaching.
I’m so lucky with my role in that it’s so varied-one day I could be working clinically and the next day out teaching. I love nursing, so getting to continue doing that while developing my teaching skills and helping others to develop is wonderful. I never thought I would enjoy teaching so much, or be any good at it, but now I get the best of both worlds.
