Guides become jam jar superstars for hospice services!

How do you get a group of 10-14 year old girls interested in Hospice care?
That was exactly the question Deanna Raven, Guide Leader for Cottenham 1st and Cottenham 2nd asked herself last Autumn.
Deanna has first hand experience of the importance of Hospice care for patients and their families, as both her Uncle and Dad were cared for by Arthur Rank Hospice Charity. When she saw the Jam Jar Superstar challenge she shared it with the girls and, in true Girl Guide style, they jumped at the challenge.
Guides are famous for making a difference in their community and Cottenham 1st and Cottenham 2nd Guides couldn’t wait to support people in their community for Arthur Rank Hospice Charity.
The group members spent the term, with the help of their family and friends, collecting and filling the jars with small change. They raised an incredible £416.32 whilst earning their fundraising badge at the same time.
Deanna Raven, Guide Leader commented:
“I am so proud of how the guides responded, it has been our pleasure and was a relatively easy fundraiser to arrange on our part.”
If you, or the younger members of your family, have been inspired by Cottenham Guides and would like to fundraise for Arthur Rank Hospice Charity please contact our Community Fundraising team, email cf@arhc.org.uk or call 01223 675888 for fundraising support.
