For the past 15 years, Nadia Macari-Brown has been a dedicated volunteer at Arthur Rank Hospice Charity in Cambridge, supporting patients and families in both the Living Well Service and the Inpatient Unit. In July 2025, she also used her time at one of the most famous sporting events in the world to raise vital funds for the place so close to her heart.
Nadia explained:
“My husband is a member of Wimbledon Tennis Club in London. During the famous Men’s and Women’s Summer tournaments I look after guests in the member’s area. A few years ago, I decided to use this privileged platform to raise money for a different charity each year. This year I have chosen Arthur Rank Hospice Charity where I volunteer each week.

Nadia’s approach is eye-catching, creative and meaningful.
“The Hospice gives personal care to patients and their families. We give them love, dignity and respect as if they were our own family. Every day during the Wimbledon fortnight, I wear a different outfit sourced from a charity shop, each dress costing less than £10. It’s a fun, sustainable way to promote pre-loved fashion and a brilliant conversation starter that helps spread awareness of my fundraising and the Charity’s Services and green strategy.”

Nadia shared that she raised an amazing £1,601. Every penny goes directly to support patient care across the charity’s services both at the Hospice and in the community.
Sarah Clayton, Community Fundraiser at Arthur Rank Hospice Charity, shared:
“Nadia’s unique fundraiser and eco-friendly savvy shopping, shines a spotlight on how charity shops are always worth a visit. Her creativity and dedication are a real inspiration.”

All nine Arthur Rank Hospice Charity Shops, Hub and Outlet are full of hidden gems. Visit your local branch in Burleigh Street, Mill Road, Regent Street in Cambridge or Cottenham, Ely, Great Shelford, Pampisford and March, to shop sustainably and support hospice care in your community.
