1964 ‘Cadillac’ gives joy raising Hospice Funds in memory of Alys

In a gesture that seamlessly blends love and generosity, Chris Mikolajczyk has generously offered the use of his exquisite Cadillac for special occasions, such as Weddings or Proms, in memory of his late wife, Alys, to raise money for the Charity.
In October 2017, Alys was cared for at Arthur Rank Hospice, a haven that provided comfort and support during her final months. Both Alys and Chris, inseparable in their journey, stayed at the Inpatient Unit until she died in April 2018. Chris fondly recalls the compassionate staff and the excellent care that enveloped them:
“Alys was extremely brave and realistic, we were here [at the Hospice] for a long time and met lots of lovely people. I and Alys’s two sisters continue to be extremely grateful.”
The echoes of Alys’s time at the Hospice lingered in Chris’s heart, prompting him to find a unique and meaningful way to honour her memory. He turned to his car and now Alys’s legacy lives on through the wheels of ‘The Golden Angel’ – a 1964 Cadillac Fleetwood 60 Special, bringing joy to newlyweds and prom-goers while simultaneously raising funds and awareness for a cause close to Chris’s heart. For Chris, this initiative is not just a way to remember Alys; it’s a heartfelt way to give back to the place that provided them with solace and support during their challenging time.

Chris commented:
“My beautiful late wife Alys adored this car. It was the car we used for both our Wedding and our honeymoon. As a family we are eternally appreciative of everything Arthur Rank Hospice Charity did for Alys.”
When offering a ride in ‘The Golden Angel’ Chris simply asks for the petrol costs to be covered and a donation to be made to the Charity. Every generous contribution made in ‘Alys Cadillac’s’ name is a testament to the enduring love that Chris and Alys shared and a tribute to the exceptional care they received during their time at the Hospice.
Sarah Clayton, Community Fundraiser, commented:
“Chris’s dedication to preserving Alys’s memory and supporting the Arthur Rank Hospice Charity is one such tale—a story of love, resilience, and a Cadillac that carries not only passengers but also the weight of a beautiful legacy.”
