Virtual Quiz comes to a close

The end of an era drew to a close last night when Arthur Rank Hospice Charity held its last virtual quiz.  This quiz, which ran on a fully automated system, had been running since the beginning of April when the country went into lockdown.

With the pandemic taking hold and the country going into lockdown, our fundraising activities also dwindled and we saw a sharp decline on community activities.  We were not, however, going to sit back and our thoughts had to turn to alternative methods of fundraising and so virtual activities have now taken over.

Regular players came back to the quiz week after week but like all good things, it started coming to an end with numbers dwindling and so we had to take the decision to cease play.  The quiz has been an effective fundraiser and in total we have raised £1696.40.

Alison Pinney, Community Fundraiser, says “for some, the quiz had been the highlight of their week and we received many positive comments.  I cannot thank everybody enough for their support of the quiz over the past few months but, although this is the end of the quiz (for now) we hope to replace it with something new)”

Although this is the end for the weekly quiz, we may see it return for one-off specials in future weeks so please do keep and eye on the website for details.
