Our Head of Engagement, Carla Brown, spoke to Ben Baldwin at That’s Cambridge TV about this exciting initiative at the start of October: Arthur Rank Hospice Charity is searching for businesses who care about their community to represent every corner of Cambridgeshire, as it launches its 2019 Accumulator Challenge. Organisations of all shapes and sizes are invited to apply to take part and race to raise a fortune from £50! Now in its eighth year, the Accumulator Challenge will be launched on Tuesday 1 October, when an initial £50 stake from sponsor Arm will be presented to participating companies, local businesses, organisations and entrepreneurs.  The entertainment then begins as teams compete to use their stake to raise the greatest amount possible for the charity, using as much creativity and innovation as they can muster!  The Accumulator Challenge runs until Friday 31 December, giving competitors 13 weeks to show off their flair and ingenuity, as they go the extra mile to make a real difference within their local community. An astounding grand total of over £90,000 has been generated for the Hospice by the Accumulator Challenge, since it launched in 2012. Thanks to the generous continued support of sponsor Arm – and donations such as the trophies contributed free of charge by Go Glass – all money raised helps to fund to patient care across the Hospice’s range of services.  Taylor Vinters claimed the winners’ trophy in the 50-250 employees category last year. Jan Holmes, their Learning & Development Manager comments:  “At Taylor Vinters we encourage the mindset of being part of a tribe – believing that having a collective purpose will drive individual empowerment. Being part of the Accumulator Challenge last year embodied this mindset. It was great to see our teams working together on a range of fundraising activities, to give something back to our local community and having amazing fun doing so. There was something for everybody: we had quizzes, there were pumpkin carving competitions and we did an art class. I would say to any other organisation that they should get involved, because as well as raising funds for a great organisation – which is local to us all and could help any one of your staff in the future – it brings your employees together and gives them some fun things to work on.We are looking forward to participating again this year and to the creativity our people will no doubt bring to thinking of new fundraising ideas whilst taking part in team building activities.”Other activities last year included a yoga class, thai massage and sound-bath session hosted by The Wonders of Wellbeing, a beginners baking class put on by Cambridge Cookery and Cafe, a ‘Fizz, Fun & Fitness’ event organised by Salon HD and a Bacon Butty Breakfast dreamt up by Pure Resourcing.  Many companies shared updates about their activities on social media, generating some fabulous photos, a wealth of brilliant publicity and a healthy portion of good-natured banter with Accumulator Challenge rivals! The Charity is seeking twenty six companies, organisations or groups to take part.  Applicants are invited to register their interest now with Corporate Fundraiser Emma Bray, by emailing emma.bray@arhc.org.uk or calling 01223 675882 (or 675888). Further details are available on the Hospice’s website, at arhc.org.uk/accumulator-challenge.aspListen again to Emma and Carla telling Neil Whiteside from Cambridge 105 Radio more about the initiative below:
