Jane, Palliative Care Staff Nurse
The Alan Hudson Day Treatment Centre, is an Arthur Rank Hospice Service based at the North Cambs Hospital in Wisbech.
We are a small but very busy nurse-led unit caring for patients with life limiting illnesses. We have patients that attend day therapy for assessment and support of their physical, psychological and spiritual needs.
This often involves referral to and liasing with other health care professionals such as physiotherapists, occupational therapists, GPS, consultants, dieticians, pharmacists and district nurses. As well as symptom management and psychological support of the patient we also offer support to family and carers.
Another part of my role is to carry out treatments for patients such as blood transfusions, iron infusions and bisphosphinate infusions and support of our treatment patients and families.

I really enjoy working here – we are a friendly little team and know our patients well. Despite having a very busy family life as well, I took up running 3 years ago and have since run a number of half marathons and am training for a full one to help raise money for the Arthur Rank Hospice Charity!
