Specialist Palliative Care Occupational Therapist myth busts

Joanna Byers, Specialist Palliative Care Occupational Therapist at Arthur Rank Hospice Charity attended the ‘Stronger for Longer’ community event at the C3 church together with Cleo, our Occupational Therapy student. Joanna shared:
“The event was a really positive way to connect and learn from lots of community organisations and groups who work to keep people well and active in our local area as well as further field.
We sat next to the fire service and also enjoyed conversations with Cambridge library, Camsight and Cambridgeshire Deaf Association, among others.
We were also glad to share examples of our own in-house activity programme and gym equipment and to answer questions from members of the public about how the Charity supports people to stay active and well with a life-limiting condition.
Many people were surprised to hear that at Arthur Rank Hospice Charity, we don’t just support people in the last days of life but support many people to live well earlier on in their diagnosis.
It was good to bust some myths around this topic and we look forward to attending more events like this in the future!”
