14 year old’s challenge after devastating news

On Monday 19 February 2024 at 9.30am, 14 year old Sam took on an ambitious half term challenge.

Sam, who attends Thomas Clarkson Academy in Wisbech, left the Alan Hudson Day Treatment Centre in Wisbech to cycle 35 miles over five days to raise vital funds for the Centre who is part of Arthur Rank Hospice Charity.

Sam shared his motivation for the challenge:

“The reason I am doing this is that recently, one of my family members was diagnosed with cancer. This was devastating news to me and the rest of my family.

As a result, I have decided to raise money for the organisation who are currently helping them and many others in Wisbech and the surrounding areas.

I plan to cycle 35 miles over five days. This represents one mile for every 32 people that this organisation helps each year. I intend on completing this during the February half-term break.

Any money raised will be going to the ‘Alan Hudson Treatment Centre’ in Wisbech. I am very grateful for any donations that you are able to make.”

Sam was accompanied by his brother Oli, on Monday and will have different people supporting him each day.
