65 year old Kate takes on Kilimanjaro with her son to thank Hospice Charity

Kate Robb, aged 65 and her son Jack, aged 23, are taking on the challenge of climbing Kilimanjaro in memory of Jack’s godfather, who was cared for by Arthur Rank Hospice Charity.
Kate explained the reason for their motivation:
“We have chosen to raise money for Arthur Rank Hospice Charity as sadly we lost our close friend and Jack’s Godfather, Cam Allen, in 2025, as he lost his five year battle with cancer.
The Charity’s Hospice at Home Team cared for and supported him and his family, through the most difficult times.
The level of support and love this amazing Charity gave to Cam and his family was something that will not be forgotten. Cam’s wife, Steph and their daughters, were so grateful for the support which allowed him to have a dignified death at home, with his family around him.”
Kate continued:
“Climbing has been on my ‘to list’ for some time. Preparing for Kilimanjaro is a perfect reason to improve my fitness. I celebrated my 65th birthday in March and I needed to prove to myself that age is just a number.
The prospect of climbing Africa’s highest mountain, on Monday 6 July 2026, gives me the perfect motivation to go that extra mile when exercising and the prospect of conquering the roof of Africa, gives me something to aim towards!
My son, Jack will accompany me to celebrate completing his degree at the University of York, before he enters the world of full time employment.”
Kate concluded:
“The Charity provides its range of services free of charge to patients. To help it continue it’s excellent work, if you are able, please donate and be as generous as you can with your donations, as they will help the Charity so much and will also motivate us as we climb to the summit.”
