Our Board of Trustees share the huge responsibility of governing the Charity, overseeing our operations and directing how we are managed and run. Each brings a unique set of skills.
Eduardo Prato kindly shared his experience of being a Trustee at the Charity:
Why did you want to volunteer as a Trustee for Arthur Rank Hospice Charity?
My wife, Rosario Luna, spent the most beautiful last four weeks of her life at the Inpatient Unit at Arthur Rank Hospice. This allowed her, our four kids and me to have the most positive way to share such special and unique moments. The warmth of the nurses, doctors, catering, admin and management team was always there. The palliative care was fantastic. The facilities were second to none. All this combined, allowed us to make an extremely sad event (which marked us for the rest of our lives) a springboard to live life at a new level, happier and wiser.
What do you enjoy about being a Trustee at Arthur Rank Hospice Charity?
The multiple talents that are merged in the trustee board room. The professionalism that each trustee brings, and the generosity and altruism that each meeting irradiates. A great place to give, to learn and to grow as a person.
How much time do you have to dedicate to being a Trustee at Arthur Rank Hospice Charity?
On average one to two hours per week. Some weeks there will be very little required. Others (particularly weeks when committees or board meetings take place) preparation, attendance and follow up may be required).
What would you say to someone else who is thinking of volunteering as a Trustee?
Speak to other trustees. Visit the Hospice at Cambridge and the Alan Hudson Centre in Wisbech and see the teams interacting with patients and their families, making a real difference. Attend various events. Visit the Charity’s shops. See if all of the above fills you with energy to live a better life. If all of the above resonates with you, join us!
