In 2022 Alex’s dad, Nick Cross was cared for at Arthur Rank Hospice. Alex and Nick shared a passion for running and used to enter many races together.

On 6 May 2023, Alex and her friends Becky and Izzy will run the 50km point-to-point course from Horsham to Brighton, in memory of Nick. This will take them through a mixture of terrain, including wonderful trails and rolling downs before reaching the seafront promenade.

Alex and her friends have set up a Just Giving page to fundraise for the Charity and explained their reasons why:

“The amazing nurses and medical professionals offered not only medical support to Nick but also emotional help to the whole family.

Our family were given a small apartment on site and extra beds in Nick’s room so we could be there at all times. We also received psychological support when needed along with the daily tea, cake and friendly faces.”

Arthur Rank made it possible for their family to be together in the best way, under the worst circumstances.”

They added:

“Nick was an ultra runner himself, and although we aren’t quite running his furthest distance (100 miles!) we know he would still be proud of what we are hoping to achieve.”
