If you have ever visited our Inpatient Unit you will be very familiar with Emma, our very calm, patient and friendly Ward Clerk, as she is often the first person to greet our new patients and their loved ones.

However, the next time you visit you might do a double take, as Emma may look very different, as she has signed up to #HairWeGo and has agreed to chop off her long locks to help raise vital funds for the Hospice. Emma’s hair is super long and was last trimmed just before lockdown in 2020.

Emma has chosen to support our #HairWeGo month for very special reasons:

“Arthur Rank [Hospice Charity] has a very special place in my heart as most of you will know and being the Ward Clerk for the Inpatient Unit I see first hand how kind, caring and compassionate our team is and the amazing job everyone in the organisation does.

I lost my sister Sally nearly 7 years ago at Arthur Rank [Hospice] and it’s thanks to the support of my colleagues/friends that I get through every year.

Sally was an incredible, brave little nutter and if anyone rocked no hair it was definitely her.

There have been some very special people in my life that have lost their hair and never complained! Some are still here, some aren’t! It’s just hair right I’m sure I’ll rock it”

Emma chopped off her locks in our Bistro on the evening of Monday 25 April 2022 at the Hospice.

She has raised over £2100 so far Emma, we are all so proud of you!!
