Arthur Rank Hospice Charity, Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice and East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) collaborated for a circus-themed activity day for young people with life-limiting illnesses.
Arthur Rank Hospice Charity was the venue for the event, which welcomed young people aged 14 years plus and their families, to learn circus skills while finding out more about transitioning to an adult hospice.
This was the fourth event that the three hospices have collaborated on.
Other highlights from the day included: face painting, live music, Tom and Ted the miniature donkeys, Millie the PAT dog and complementary therapy. Families also enjoyed lunch and candy floss together in the Bistro, in addition to arts and crafts activities such as making and painting musical instruments.
Kristie Foreman, who works on behalf of the three Hospices; Arthur Rank Hospice, Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice and EACH as part of the National Lottery funded project, said:
“Thank you to all of the young people and their families who joined us this month – we really enjoyed meeting you and welcoming you to Arthur Rank Hospice Charity.
It was great to see the three Hospices working together face to face again [after the pandemic] so young people in Cambridgeshire continue to feel supported and have all the information they need to take on the transition into adult hospice care.”
The partnership also offers key worker support to young people from 18 years old who have been referred to the Transitioning Young Adults Service to help with signposting for health, social care, education, housing, and employment concerns.
