Last week, two representatives came for a cheque presentation at the Hospice. They presented a fabulous cheque for £500 to our charity, specifically to go towards our Hospice at Home ‘Help Us Be There’ campaign. The money was raised because they organised a fantastic Fireworks Display, with fairground rides and food and drink stalls.

Their generous donation will be used to help support our vital services that we provide for people living with a life limiting illness in Cambridgeshire. Our Hospice at Home service is led by our team of compassionate and experienced nurses and healthcare assistants. They remain with someone who is dying in their own home overnight, providing direct hands-on care and support to the patient and their family between 10pm and 7am.

Our ‘Help Us Be There’ campaign was launched to raise £100,000 to allow us to provide an extra 200 nights of Hospice at Home care. Each night of holistic care- both for the patient and family members, who are often at breaking point and in great need of emotional and pyschological support- costs the charity £472 per night.

This amazing donation, given by our supporters in Ely, will make a genuine difference to our patients and their families.

Community Fundraiser, Bethany Brown added: “We are so very grateful to the Rotary Club of Ely, the Ely Community Events Team (ECET) and the local community for their wonderful support. The Ely community have been a great support to the Arthur Rank Hospice Charity over the years- from volunteering their time to organising events and helping to raise awareness of our work. By donating £500 to our Help Us Be There campaign, raised at their Fireworks Display, it shows how diverse their support has been. We are so thankful that they are helping us to make every moment count for our patients and their families.” (
