Arthur Rank Hospice Charity is counting down to the annual Star Shine Night Walk on Saturday 21 June 2025.

This year’s event is extra special as the charity’s beloved mascot, Arthur Bear will be celebrating his birthday on the same day!

The Star Shine Night Walk is a well-known event in Cambridge, bringing together the community to support the vital work of Arthur Rank Hospice Charity. With over 400 walkers already registered, they are on track to make this the biggest and most successful event yet!

There are two routes available, both starting and finishing from Shelford Rugby Club. Arthur Bear checked out the 5 mile route this week, and very much enjoyed the Clay Farm Community Gardens in Trumpington. This features in both the 5 and 10 mile routes.

The 10 mile route continues on from here to the city centre and past the Botanical Gardens and the Fitzwilliam Museum before crossing the River Cam via Bridge Street. From here it heads round to one of the most iconic views Cambridge is known for, ‘The Backs’. A number of colleges of the University of Cambridge back on to the River Cam with their beautiful gardens covering both banks of the river. It’s then back round to the other side of the Botanical Gardens, through Trumpington and back to the finish line at Shelford Rugby Club.

Also on offer is a shorter 5 mile route, which stays in the Shelford and Trumpington area, through tree lined streets.

Arthur Bear himself will be attending to wave the walkers off on the day and there will be cakes at the finish line for everyone!

With one month to go until the big day, registrations are still open and walkers are invited to come and join in, whether you are walking to remember a loved one or just want to support hospice care in Cambridgeshire, the event is open to all – children welcome aged 10 and over, when walking with an adult.
