Seven special visitors created excitement and joy, to staff and patients, on Thursday 12 December 2024, when they visited Arthur Rank Hospice.
Head Coach, Gary Monk from Cambridge United was accompanied by players Michael Morrison, Paul Digby, Korey Smith, Vicente Reyes and Gary Gardner for a tour of the facilities at Shelford Bottom in Cambridge.
They were shown around the Living Well Service, the patients Gym, the Bradbury Wellness Centre where the Lymphoedema and Complimentary Therapy Clinics are held, the Hospice garden and Arthur’s Shed to find out more about the free services, which support people in Cambridgeshire living with an advanced serious illness or other life-limiting condition and those who need end of life care, before meeting patients at the Inpatient Unit.
Peter Emery, who was one of the patients who they chatted to, appeared energised by meeting the players and was asking the nurses about the match results on Saturday!
Gary commented:
“It was a really inspiring and eye-opening afternoon.
“The work that the staff do is truly incredible and all of us left in awe of their compassion, strength and hard-work. I would like to thank them for showing us around and allowing us into their facility.”
The Charity would like to thank Gary and the players from Cambridge United for taking time out of their training day to visit the Hospice.
