During National Volunteers Week(opens in new tab) from 7-13 June 2026, we said thank you to some of our volunteers.

It takes over 600 volunteers to offer all our services to over 3,750 patients a year, at the Hospice in Cambridge, at the Alan Hudson Centre in Wisbech, at our shops and Retail Hub and Outlet and in the community.

A wide range of roles, from Volunteer Drivers, Cake Bakers, Meet and Greeters, Shop and Bistro Assistants, Living Well Supporters, Gardeners, Arthurs Shed volunteers, Caring Communities Volunteers, Fundraising Supporters, Proof Readers and Prescribers, Trustees and Ambassadors (to name just a few!) are essential for the Charity to provide the outstanding services they offer, at no cost to patients and their loved ones.

It will cost over £14.7 million to run our services in 2026/2027. Contracted services from the NHS are budgeted at £7.4 million. With the help of our community, we need to raise a further £7.3 million through donations, fundraising activities, retail sales, the Education and Conference Centre and Bistro and our volunteers help us to do this whilst generously volunteering their time for free.

Some volunteers have been gifting their time for a short while but many are long standing supporters of the Charity.

Volunteers enjoyed refreshments and a chance to get together with other volunteers and staff at the Charity, both in the Bistro at the Hospice and at the Alan Hudson Centre, whilst we were able to show our appreciation to them.
