Sutton Quiz Night Win for Charity

We are thrilled to extend our gratitude to The Chequers, Sutton, and all who joined in their spirited pub quiz event in December 2023.
The monthly charity quiz, orchestrated by the dedicated Dave Smith, shows the village is full of community spirit and generosity, raising an impressive £900 in support of Arthur Rank Hospice Charity at the final quiz of 2023.
Under Dave’s guidance as organiser and quizmaster, the atmosphere was joyful and filled with laughter. Through the collective efforts of participants, contributions poured in through quiz entry fees, on-the-night raffles, and auctions, reflecting the immense generosity and compassion of all involved.
For Maija Cartwright, the esteemed Land lady of The Chequers for over 30 years , the Charity holds a deeply personal significance. In 2018, her beloved husband Rowland, was cared for at the Inpatient Unit. Following his stay, our dedicated Hospice at Home team provided invaluable support and compassionate care until he died in June 2018.
The support of establishments like The Chequers, Sutton, and the dedication of individuals like Dave and Maija truly exemplify the power of community and collective compassion to support people in Cambridgeshire living with an advanced serious illness or other life-limiting condition.
Sarah Clayton, Community Fundraiser commented:
“From all of us at Arthur Rank Hospice Charity, thank you for your extraordinary generosity and commitment to our mission. Together, we are making a difference and this is only possible with the support of our community.”
If you would like to fundraise or hold an event for the Charity, please email Sarah at cf@arhc.org.uk or call 01223 675888.
