Hospice cleaners recognised for ‘treating clients like best friends’

Manoel Oliveira and Vanessa Ripley are very familiar faces at the Hospice with patients, visitors, staff and volunteers.
While they quietly go about their duties, keeping the Hospice spotlessly clean and tidy, they build real relationships with patients and families that they see every day. They know exactly when to share a smile or a joke and they bring a sense of normality for those staying in our Inpatient Unit. Their presence offers comfort and reassurance that goes far beyond their cleaning duties!
We were delighted when we heard that they were nominated for an award with their employers, Atlas FM. They were thrilled (and a little humbled) to collect the ‘Stars of Atlas Award’ in the category ‘Treats clients like best friends’ at an awards ceremony in London.

Sara Orsbourn, Head of Operation at Arthur Rank Hospice Charity commented:
“Everyone at TeamArthur plays an important role in providing outstanding care for our patients and their loved ones and it is wonderful to see Manoel and Vanessa recognised in this way. We all agree that this couldn’t be more deserved.
This recognition celebrates the kindness and compassion they show in every interaction, which fits so well with the Charity’s values of care, compassion, community and excellence. “
