Initially the Finance Team consisted of only one person (Lynne Hays who has been here for over 20 years now!) and now we have a full team.
There have been so many changes in that time for example the Hospice becoming independent of the NHS and of course building the New Hospice at Shelford Bottom. The Finance Team have had to grow to keep up. We deal with Payroll, invoicing customers, invoices from suppliers, Gift Aid, VAT claims, producing a variety of different reports, Payroll……the list goes on.
It is so nice having our office here at the Hospice at Shelford Bottom; we have about four times more space than at the old Hospice at Mill Road and it has made such a difference to the team, mainly because we can move our chairs without hitting each other.
I love the variety of work this role gives me. I have my set tasks I need to complete every month for example, preparing the monthly management accounts for both the Charity and our Trading Company, but I find myself working on a lot of one off projects too.
I really enjoy working on new projects with the outcome of making the work we do here more efficient and effective.
I like to come up with new ideas to make everyone’s working life easier.
