Kay Brown’s family have signed up to walk the Star Shine Night Walk in Wisbech on Saturday 16 May 2026.
Kay’s daughter, Kealeigh Bostock, kindly shared their reason why:
“In 2022, Mum was diagnosed with a rare prion disease called Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD). After a short time in hospital she returned home and was supported by the Hospice at Home Team.
The Charity provided the most amazing palliative care to our Mum. Not only was that so important for her but it also helped us, as a family, be able to spend every possible second with her in the comfort of the family home.

Every day for three weeks the ladies from the Hospice at Home Team came to see Mum. They always had time to chat to us too. Without these amazing people our last weeks with Mum wouldn’t of been as easy. Mum passed away peacefully with her family around her.”
In 2025, Craig ran the London Marathon in memory of his Mum, for the Charity and now the family are continuing to give back, by walking the Star Shine Night Walk. They shared:
“We are walking in memory of our beautiful Mum. We will always support the Alan Hudson Centre in whatever way we can, due to the outstanding service we received from them in Mum’s final weeks.
The care they provided was absolutely incredible, not just for Mum but for us as a family too. Nothing was ever too much trouble for them and the special touches, like putting Mum’s favourite perfume on her, will stay with us forever. Their staff really are worth their weight in gold.”
They concluded:
“You never know when you will ever need them and hope you never do, however we will always fundraise for them whenever we can to keep their vital services running.”
