16 colleagues from Costello Medical, headquartered in Cambridge, are taking on the TTP Cambridge Half Marathon on Sunday 8 March 2026 and have kindly shared their reasons why:

“Hospices aren’t something many of us think about until we need them. They’re often associated only with end of life, and that can make them hard to talk about. What we’ve come to understand is that Arthur Rank Hospice Charity is so much more.

It’s about enhancing quality of life, offering comfort, and wrapping care not only around the person who is unwell, but around everyone who loves them.”

Annabel
“In March 2025, we lost our wonderful friend and colleague, Annabel Griffiths. Annabel joined Costello Medical in 2015 after gaining her BA and PhD at the University of Cambridge and was a phenomenal force from the very start.

She developed an early passion for specifically tailoring our scientific services to support the rare disease space, where patient groups are often under-served by healthcare systems, and where developing and enabling patient access to effective treatments can face particularly tough challenges.

Annabel founded our Rare Diseases division and led teams across the globe in this specialism, mentoring and inspiring many colleagues along the way. Her advocacy work strengthened partnerships across the rare disease community and left a lasting, positive mark. Annabel changed the direction of Costello Medical for the better – forever.

In early 2024, Annabel was diagnosed with a rare cancer. She faced her illness with the same courage, humour and determination that defined her life and work. She received treatment at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge and later, compassionate care at Arthur Rank Hospice. She passed away on 1 March 2025.”

Honouring Annabel’s Memory
“March 2026 will mark a year since Annabel’s passing, and a team of 16 Costello Medical colleagues are taking on the Cambridge Half Marathon to honour her memory and celebrate everything she was.

16 Colleagues from Costello Medical who will run the TTP Cambridge Half Marathon

Hearing from Annabel’s loved ones just how much the support from Arthur Rank Hospice Charity had meant to them all, we knew this was the charity we wanted to support in her name.
Our team is a real mix – some seasoned runners and some stepping well outside their comfort zones. Training hasn’t been easy, especially with weeks of relentless winter rain, but doing it together, remembering Annabel, and for a cause so close to our hearts has made every mile meaningful.

Alongside our runners, we’ll have colleagues and friends forming a cheer squad across the course on race day, including joining the Arthur Rank Hospice Charity supporters along Bridge Street at mile 12, to cheer the team towards the final stretch.

Colleagues across our UK offices have already come together and shown overwhelming support through fundraising events to help us towards our £6,000 target and raise vital funds for Arthur Rank Hospice.”

Supporting Challengers
“The support our running team has received from Arthur Rank Hospice Charity has been incredible.

From making it easy to sign up as part of their team, to coming along to our Cambridge office bake sale and helping us spread the word about the hospice’s services, they’ve been with us every step of the way.

We can’t recommend being a part of #TeamArthur highly enough and what started as a fundraising effort is already growing into a partnership we hope will last for years to come.”

Supporting future patients and loved ones
“For us this run is about remembering Annabel. It’s about celebrating her life and the enormous impact she had on all of us.

It’s about ensuring Arthur Rank Hospice can continue to provide the same compassionate care, privacy, and comfort that Annabel and her loved ones appreciated so much, to other Cambridgeshire families when they need it the most.”
