Our first ever ‘Fill a bag for £5’ event at the Hospice was a huge success thanks to over 500 supporters who visited over the weekend from 24 – 26 April.

Supporters, many who had not visited the Hospice before, flooded the Charity’s Education and Conference Centre to browse quality clothes, including pre-loved items from Zara, John Lewis and Hugo Boss.

The event, which was supported by the Retail Team and volunteers, raised over £2,500 over the three days. It was a great opportunity for supporters to visit the Hospice and the Bistro, which is open seven days a week to the general public and learn more about our nine shops across Cambridgeshire – particularly the Retail Outlet where many items are sold for £1.00 each.

Some supporters were so impressed by the sale that they returned the following day to pick up extra bargains. One lady, returned on the Sunday wearing one of the dresses she had picked up the previous day!

Jenny Moulding, Retail and Internal Communications Manager commented:

“We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who supported the ‘Fill a Bag for £5’ sale. Everyone who helped to advertise the event, donated preloved items, volunteered and bought filled bags have helped to support people in Cambridgeshire living with an advanced serious illness or other life-limiting condition and those who need end of life care. Following the success of the event we are hoping to hold a further sale later in the year, so watch this space!”
