On Sunday 26 April 2026, Arthur Rank Hospice Charity are incredibly proud to have 13 dedicated runners taking their place on the start line of the world‑famous TCS London Marathon in support of the Charity.

Together, they have already raised an amazing amount of money, with more donations expected over the weekend as they take on the challenge to support people in Cambridgeshire living with an advanced serious illness or other life-limiting condition and those who need end of life care.

After months of committed training and tireless fundraising, this fantastic group will gather in Greenwich early on Sunday morning, ready to face 26.2 miles through the Capital City. Their journey will take them all the way to the iconic finish line on The Mall, where a well‑earned and very special medal awaits.

Gina Thomas, Events and Challenges Manager commented:

“With a record‑breaking 1,133,813 people entering the ballot for a place in the 2026 TCS London Marathon, we are thrilled that nine runners who secured their own ballot places chose to run for Arthur Rank Hospice. As a charity, we are allocated just four places each year, so to have a team of 13 runners is truly phenomenal.

We are enormously grateful to every one of them, as well as to their friends and families whose encouragement, donations and support have helped make this possible.”

Meet our amazing 2026 TCS London Marathon Runners…

Tracy Adams

I’ve been a runner for over 14 years and, like many, I’ve entered the London Marathon ballot countless times — always hoping, always missing out. As the years have gone by, I started to think maybe my chance had passed. But running this marathon has been a dream of mine since I was a child, and I wasn’t quite ready to give up on it.

In my work as a Social Prescriber, I’ve seen first-hand the outstanding care and support that Arthur Rank Hospice Charity provides to people with serious illnesses and those needing end-of-life care. Their services are a lifeline to patients and families across Cambridgeshire — delivered with compassion, dignity, and respect, always free of charge.

Samuel Clift

In November 2024, my Grandad, Kenneth Clift – known fondly as Sam- Spent his final weeks at the hospice following a short battle with cancer. The care, dignity, and compassion he was shown during that time were nothing short of exceptional. It was a deeply moving experience for our family, and it showed me just how special this charity truly is. I am running not only in support of Arthur Rank Hospice Charity but also in loving memory of my Grandad.

In August 2019, my Grandad Terry Fretwell suffered a ruptured Abdominal Aorta Aneurysm which resulted in him being rushed to Addenbrookes Hospital for emergency surgery. During his recovery he unfortunately developed sepsis.

By December 2019 my Grandad was transferred to the Inpatient Unit at Arthur Rank Hospice in Cambridge where he received end of life care. The entire team at Arthur Rank Hospice made his time there so memorable. We were able to celebrate Christmas Day as a family, spend countless hours watching old cowboy films and spend lovely winter afternoons in the garden.

On 17 April 2021 after a brave battle with sepsis my grandad passed peacefully in his home surrounded by his family and supported by the Arthur Rank Hospice  at Home Community Team. My family and I will forever be grateful for the support and care given by the Arthur Rank Team, this is why I will be running the London Marathon for Arthur Rank Hospice Charity in memory of my grandad.

Jenny Polhill

I’m a newly qualified nurse, a long-time volunteer and now soon-to-be a marathon runner! I joined Arthur Rank Hospice Charity in 2021, starting out as a volunteer on the Inpatient Unit. For the past five years I have supported patients on the Oncology Ward at Addenbrookes Hospital and on my student nurse placement at Arthur Rank Hospice; sometimes seeing them on the ward and then a few days later in the Hospice, where I always try to bring a bit of colour and cheer in my brightest dungarees.

Sheila Cayton

My dear friend John Johnson spent his last days in Arthur Rank Hospice where they looked after him and his wife Wendy with the utmost care, through that difficult time.

Louie Clark

I will be raising money for Arthur Rank Hospice Charity in memory of my late Nan Joyce. In July 2021, Nan was transferred to Arthur Rank Hospice after a period of ill health. The staff and nurses at Arthur Rank Hospice provided a comfortable and peaceful environment for Nan until her sad passing on 24 of July 2021.

Chris Day

Arthur Rank Hospice has provided exceptional care to several of our loved ones. Thanks to their compassion and support, our family was able to spend precious time together before having to say goodbye. We will always be grateful for the care they gave us during such a difficult time and we want to give back by helping them support more families like ours.

Tony Everitt

I’ve been lucky enough to be given the opportunity to achieve my ambition of running the London Marathon. To spur me on when I’m feeling exhausted and questioning why I wanted to do this, I’m running to raise funds for Arthur Rank Hospice Charity who provide exceptional support to people and families in our community.

Peter Fenwick

In 2024 Arthur Rank Hospice Charity provided a place for our family to say goodbye to Mum, which meant that our last time together didn’t have to be on a hospital ward. During the short time spent there we got a glimpse of how essential they are.
