Body image and sexuality are important to our understanding of who we are, illness and treatment can have psychological impact on self-image and this session explores some of the issues around this. 

 This Study Day is aimed at:

This Study Day is suitable for healthcare professionals who are caring for palliative patients in any setting. 

 In this course learners will:

  • Discuss the meaning and understanding of sexuality 
  • Explore the barriers which affect the health care professionals assessment of issues relating to body image and sexuality 
  • Discuss patients and families perceptions of body image and consider the effect of illness and treatment on the patient and family 
  •  Consider what can you do to support patients to maintain an intimate relationship
