Arthur's Shed

Located in the gardens of the Hospice

Sharing time and talents - community activity

Come and join us in Arthur’s Shed, a studio room, located in our landscaped gardens providing an alternative community space for people to meet at the hospice.

We make full use of this resource and offer a volunteer-led community activity programme.

The project has been inspired by the success of the Men’s Shed movement, which we offer together with much more.  The vision is for the wider community and people connected to the Hospice to be able to come together in a safe, warm and friendly venue.

So if you're looking to learn something new, or would like to socialize in your community, come along and join us!

You could even volunteer to teach your hobby! Project volunteers offer their time and talent to deliver a programme of wide ranging activities, with things to do from woodwork to flower arranging, as well as provide less structured, informal sessions where users can just meet and chat.

The activity sessions are booked in advance, to save disappointment and are open to the general public.  A donation towards the activity would be appreciated but is not required to attend. We also have a wonderful Bistro and gardens for people to enjoy.

Volunteering

Our sessions are supported by a range of talented volunteers. Previous teaching of your skill would be an advantage. If you have a talent and would like to share this please email Jan on jan.wilderspin@arhc.org.uk

Funding

Thanks to funding from the Big Lottery Fund, sessions are free of charge. Unless otherwise stated, we suggest a small voluntary donation of £2. Thank you for your support and we look forward to seeing you soon!
