Denise’s story

Denise answers some questions below about her connection with the charity and her reasons for dedicating a leaf on the Memory Tree.
What is your connection to Arthur Rank Hospice?
Mum became involved with Arthur Rank due to her love of craft and wanted to use her skills to raise money for the Hospice. She was so proud to find support and love for her craft from the wonderful staff and supporters of the hospice. Towards the end of her life all she wanted was to make her craft and sell it to raise funds for the Hospice, raising over £2,000 by the end of her life.
Why did you decide to dedicate a leaf on the Memory Tree?
Mum never made it to Arthur Rank. On the day she died she would have been running a stall, at Arthur Rank’s annual afternoon tea, along with her dear friends. She died peacefully, in Addenbrooke’s Hospital, surrounded by her beloved family, moments after being told that her stall had raised several hundred pounds for the charity.
That is why we have a dedicated leaf on the Memory Tree in her name, she finally made it to her much loved Arthur Rank.
If you could describe the Memory Tree in one word, what would that be?
One Word: Proud (because it makes me proud of her every time I see it)
