In the village of Orwell – one of the most vibrant communities in South Cambridgeshire, Verity Haines, has opened her garden to host an ‘Art in the Garden’ event taking place on Sunday 9 June from 2-6pm.
The garden, in the heart of the village at Cakebreade Cottage, 57 Town Green Road, Orwell SG8 5QJ, will be open to the general public, as members of the Orwell Art Group display a range of their original art work for sale, around the herbaceous borders of a beautiful grade 2 listed property.
Proceeds from the sale of art, cards, cakes, teas and glasses of Prosecco will all go to Arthur Rank Hospice Charity. A local picture framer has already supported by pledging £75.
Added to the funds will be 50% of the sales from a bric-à-brac stall at the village Pannier Market at the High Street, Orwell, SG8 5QN, taking place on Saturday 1 June.
Verity shared the reasons for supporting Arthur Rank Hospice Charity:
“Two of my closest relations benefitted from hospice care (and equally the family felt so supported). Also many members of the group, and people locally, have had experience one way or another, of the Hospice movement and the Arthur Rank Hospice Charity in particular.”
This will be the second time the group has exhibited art in Verity’s garden which adds a creative twist to a normal open garden visit.
