Sahara Trek 2016
Eight intrepid and adventurous challengers jetted to the Moroccan Sahara Desert on 17 March 2016 for a 5 day, 70km trek across sand dunes and rock outlays all for hospice care.
The team consisted of our very own CEO Dr Lynn Morgan, The Cambridge Building Society CEO Stephen Mitcham and his wife Sandra, Jen Little, Luke Upshall, David Waters, Jacqui James and Stuart Lloyd-Beavis. They were guided by Different Travel's own experienced guide plus native Berbers and a caravan of camels who carried the heavier items such as tents, water and cooking supplies.
With no running water, no shade and only a beautiful canopy of stars for light at night the group have had a once in a lifetime experience.
Stephen Mitcham from The Cambridge Building Society spoke to BBC Radio Cambridgeshire about his experience in the Sahara.
The group managed to smash their target of £16,000 and raised just over £22,000. If you would like to be part of the next Sahara Challenge, please contact Amy in the fundraising office on 01223 675883.
