Annual Golf Tournament raises £1,047 to continue funding Hospice Care

For the past ten years, the families and friends of Maureen Lee and Janet Collen have organised an annual Golf Tournament, hosted at Heacham Golf Course Norfolk, in memory of the two friends. Over £8,000 has been raised for Arthur Rank Hospice Charity, including this year’s impressive donation of £1,047.
The golf tournaments, which see 30-50 people annually come together for a day of golf, raffles, a tombola and entertainment, first began after Maureen received Hospice Care in 2012. Organised by husband Stan, and friend Les, the annual fundraiser is always a success.
In 2017, Les’s wife Janet also received care from Arthur Rank Hospice Charity. Janet spent around ten days in the Inpatient Unit, before passing away. Since then, the annual event has been held in memory of both Janet and Maureen, raising funds for the Hospice which cared for them both.
Mandy, daughter of Janet, spoke of their family’s experience at the Hospice:
“The care we received was second to none. The family were able to stay in her room overnight, and we would have takeaways together. We were offered the accommodation upstairs too. Everyone was cared for, our family as well as Mum who was the patient”.
Victoria Kidd, Community Fundraiser, commented:
“We are so grateful for all the effort and commitment that goes into this annual event. The continued support of Maureen and Janet’s families is so appreciated, and the money raised will make such a huge difference to the vital care for patients and their families in Cambridgeshire”.
If you would like to know more about this event, or to get involved, please get in contact with Les on 07961 934336.
If you would like to support people in Cambridgeshire living with an advanced serious illness or other life-limiting condition and would like to hold an event for the Charity, please email Vic or Sarah at cf@arhc.org.uk or call 01223 675888.
