We are delighted to announce that Arthur Rank Hospice Charity has achieved GOLD accreditation in the Best Employers 2025 Awards held at Newmarket Racecourse’s Millennium Suite.
The event which brought together leaders, innovators, and culture champions to share insights, spark inspiration, and, most importantly, celebrate the organisations who achieved Silver, Gold and Platinum accreditation, as well as this year’s Best Employers Eastern Region Award winners.
The Charity was recognised for exceptional leadership, culture and commitment to creating workplaces where people can succeed and belong, after 81% of ‘Team Arthur’ colleagues participated in a staff survey over the summer of 2025.
Sharon Allen, CEO, Arthur Rank Hospice Charity, alongside colleagues, collected the award. Sharon also had the opportunity to share the Charity’s recent news, of the devastating impact of recent funding cuts to Inpatient Unit beds, explaining how she is leading the team through this difficult period whilst colleagues continue to deliver outstanding patient care.
The Judges panel commented that Arthur Rank Hospice Charity had:
· Strong alignment between organisational values and people practices – the “Golden Thread” is clearly lived through PDRs, onboarding and regular 1:1s.
· Excellent focus on wellbeing, flexibility, and inclusion, creating a culture of belonging and purpose.
· Demonstrates a compassionate and values-led approach that connects people initiatives with community impact.
The Charity first achieved gold accreditation in 2018. Gemma Manning, People and Operations Director added:
“It is wonderful to be recognised as a Gold employer once again. People are our focus, and we continue to work hard to create a workplace which is based on our values of compassion, care, community and excellence. We have built on our success and continue to be recognised amongst a very select group of organisations as one of the best employers in the eastern region. Our Staff Survey results show Our improvements across the board with the biggest progress seen in scores for wellbeing, engagement, staff development, autonomy and performance.
We are now engaging with colleagues and trustees to form our action plan which will enable us to maintain our already high standards. We will review and develop in areas that we can improve.”
