Catherine, Community Fundraiser - Collections

07 March 2018

We hold collections at various locations including supermarkets, high streets, garden centres, market squares and really anywhere kind enough to host us! I love finding new venues that we can visit. Street collections are not only for collecting loose change from passers-by; they also really help raise awareness of the Hospice and the work that it does. Each and every one is so important and really does make a difference.

I am really fortunate to work with an absolutely fantastic team of dedicated collection volunteers who turn out in all weathers to help collect for the Hospice. From a volunteering point of view, collections are such a rewarding way to offer help to the Charity and we are always on the lookout for more people to join us! The commitment is minimal but the rewards can be huge!  It’s always a great privilege to chat to people who have had personal experience of the service and who speak so openly about their stories. The affection for the Hospice out in the community is really overwhelming. The generosity of the public donations and the time that the volunteers give up to help really shows this.
