Meet our first Ely Festive 5k Runner

We had the
pleasure of catching up with Elizabeth Wright from Ely, our first runner to register
to take part in Ely Festive 5k Fun Run on 23 November.
who had heard of the Arthur Rank Hospice Charity through her workplace at Marks
and Spencer, because a colleague was cared for, has supported the hospice for a
number of years.
father’s sister received some hospice care a few years ago and sadly passed
away at 38years old from breast cancer. She described “Hospice’s are brilliant places;
they are truly unsung heroes, there for you – so different to being in a
hospital which is known for being un-personal and clinical. The hospice provided cups of tea and there
wasn’t the rush that you expected. Hospice’s make a huge difference.”
who only started running at Easter time through the couch to 5k app has two
young children, and found the time to run as a great way to relax from the
hustle and bustle of everyday life giving her the chance to enjoy the city Ely
has to offer. The Ely Runners who often run past her house motivated her to
give running a try, having not tried on her running shoes since University some

then you can eat your cake and think “I’ve earned this”.

be given a hat that they can run with on the day.
Prizes will be
awarded for fastest male, fastest female, fastest team and best dressed.
Rank Hospice Charity supports people in Cambridgeshire by providing end of life
care, counselling and support for adult patients with life limiting illness. Our care helps patients and families to make
every moment count.

can register for the event by posting the form and cheques t Ely Festive 5k,
Arthur Rank Hospice Charity, 351 Hill Road, Cambridge, CB1 3DF, enclosing your
entry fee. Cheques should be made
payable to “Arthur Rank Hospice Charity”.
The entry fee is £11 for adults and £7.50 for children (under 16). This fee is non-refundable and covers all
expenses in administrating your place.
It also pays for your Santa hat, medal and bottle of water.
