"I didn't really know what to expect when I went to visit a friend in the Arthur Rank Hospice last year and I was pleasantly surprised. The staff go out of their way not just to make their patients comfortable and cared for but also to welcome their guests. Visiting a terminally ill friend is not like visiting someone in hospital and this sometimes puts people off. At Arthur Rank they understand this and the environment they create makes it as easy as it is possible for all concerned. I learned what an important function they fulfil in the community and at the same time I was shocked by how little public funding they receive.
Hospices like Arthur Rank would not exist without donations from the public and visiting them will give you all the inspiration you need to get out there and raise some money for them yourself."
