ARHC recognise the significance of patients loved ones and supporting family and friends is a significant part of our service.
Families are encouraged to access many of the support services on offer including access to the Patient and Family Support Team, complementary therapy sessions, the opportunity to come and talk to staff or even just the opportunity for a ‘day off’ whilst patients attend the Day Therapy service.
There are also communal, non-clinical areas on the Inpatient Unit for those who are spending time with patients staying at the Hospice, including a well equipped kitchen and a comfortable lounge area so that loved ones can enjoy mealtimes together. There is also a selection of toys and games for children, and staff and resources to enable us to support you in talking to children or other family members.
At Arthur Rank Hospice, we recognise that relatives and friends will have just as many questions, anxieties and fears as some of our patients. We always try and maintain contact and offer as much support as we can and are currently in the process of setting up a carers' support group.
The patient and family support team also run a bereaved carers' support group, further details of which can be found if you call 01223 675777 during normal working hours.
