Great Wall of China Trek

Your Challenge...

We invite you to China to trek one of the New 7 Wonders of the World

A trek such as this is gaurenteed to leave a lasting impression on all who go there. It is a country immersed in history, mythology and ancient traditions. This huge mass of land has the largest population on Earth. Our trek takes us along sections of the Great Wall, one of the world’s most fascinating and important archaeological finds and one visible from space!

  • DAY 1: Fly London – Beijing.
  • DAY 2: Arrive Beijing and transfer to hotel. Free time to relax before the challenge.
  • DAY 3: Set off from Trout Valley where we can see our first views of the Wall. Trek along the Wall and enjoy the breathtaking sights. 4 hours
  • DAY 4: Hike along a picturesque valley into the Black Dragon Paw Park. We reach the tallest single tower in this section of the wall and take in the views. 6-7 hours
  • DAY 5: Trek along sections of the Wall dating back to the Ming Dynasty. The Wall is unrestored here and there are many watchtowers.5-6 hours
  • DAY 6: 14 Watchtowers before lunch today! We have some steep steps to tackle and then we cross a suspension bridge to the final watchtower. 6-7 hours
  • DAY 7: Up early for a sunrise walk along the Great Wall at Simatai. We climb more than 1200 steps today before we reach the finish line. Transfer back to Beijing. 4 hours
  • DAY 8: Free time in Beijing to explore.
  • DAY 9: Fly Beijing – London. Depending on the airline we use we may arrive the same day, or the following day.

 

 

FAQ's

Great Wall of China Trek for charityRaising Sponsorship Money - Register and receive a fundraising pack full of information and ideas. Once you set your mind to it, it’s amazing what you can achieve!

Who can take part? - Anyone over 18 years old is welcome as long as you are fit and healthy enough to do the challenge.

Fitness - This trek is aimed at people of average fitness who are prepared to put in plenty of training to  enable them to meet the challenge. Classic Tours will provide a set of training guidelines to help you on your way.

Who is there to support you? - during the event experienced staff from Classic Tours will be on hand (tour manager, guides, and doctor)  to provide help and encouragement whenever you need it. Everyone here at Arthur Rank Charity, and in the fundraising office will be here to support you to raise your sponsorship money and to offer any advice you may need.

Accommodation - Tourist class hotels throughout the trek.

Food & Drink - The food will be wholesome,tasty and plentiful. There will be snacks and water available whilst cycling

Weather - Days are likely to be clear and sunny, around 18-22'c. It will be a few degrees warmer in Beijing.

China trek for Arthur Rank, CambridgeHealth - Tetanus and Hepatitis A inoculations are suggested. Please consult your GP for professional medical advice.

Arthur Rank's fundraising team will be there in the run-up to the challenge to help you raise as much money as possible and to enjoy your experience!
